We researched different areas and villas and farms for weeks before settling on Fattoria Le Poggiola. It was even better than I had imagined it would be.
The farm was a little tricky getting to as there are many little roads and not all signs are easy to find/read but once we found it, it was ok.
The long driveway leading up to the farm house from the highway takes you away from the roads and up into the gorgeous Tuscan countryside.
The land itself is beautiful: hilly and varied terrain containing olive groves, vineyards, beautiful trees and flowering plants, grassy areas, tree covered patios, and gravel around the back of the farm.
There's a path through the vineyards and groves that takes you to their little lake. From everywhere you can see the Tuscan hills and mountains.
The house is cozy and beautiful, and very well loved and taken care of. The 4 children stayed on the third floor in 2 very nice bedrooms.
They shared a bathroom. It was very warm up th! ere but the fans and open windows made it comfortable enough at night. My sister and her husband and myself and my husband stayed on the 2nd floor in 2 of the 3 bedrooms.
The bedrooms are quite spaced apart, giving each of us plenty of privacy and comfort. Everywhere are wooden windows and shutters that can be opened up to allow air flow.
We stayed during a particularly hot period in July but slept comfortably with windows open and ceiling or standing fans on.
Everything was decorated very prettily, each bedroom having its own color and theme. There was a kitchen on the 2nd floor, however, we didn't use it.
There was also a washing machine in the kitchen. My parents stayed on the 1st floor, downstairs, in the largest, Arancione, bedroom. The stairs are stone and quite steep, especially between the 2nd and 3rd floor. To me, it all added to the charm of the farmhouse.
The "living room/dining room" contains a long table with chairs. It's a dark room unless you keep all the shuttered windows and backdoor open. We didn't really sit there a! s we alw ays sat outside. The kitchen is a large, comfortable professional kitchen.
The stove and washing machine are quite different from what we were used to and required a little extra explanation, but no problem.
It was fun to stand in the kitchen and prepare our meals all together. The kids had a great time playing ping pong tennis outside (2 ping pong tables) and swimming in the pool.
Lisa Barsi, the owner, was extremely helpful and friendly. She gave us a lengthy, detailed tour of her vineyards and the wine making cellar.
Afterwards, we tasted the wines and had delicious cheese, meats, and bread to go along with her wines. We loved the Cuo Nero and the 2005 Chianti!!!
Sitting outside together, amidst all the beauty and wonderful air, we felt like staying forever. I can't say enough good things about the property.

Pleasant stay. We spent two weeks at this place and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was great to be in a rural atmosphere but still be close to the motorway. Lisa was most helpfull and the home cooked meals were an added bonus also mixing with other guests. For us the accommodation was great, the atmosphere relaxed and the help with tours was fantastic. We definitely would return.

You walk from your car, parked under the olives and figs,up to the house, and you will see flowers all over,-an old door to the tool shed,
where the swallows fly with their summer sounds in the air, in a huury for their newborns in their nests inside, while a kitten tries, without
luck, to catch one. The walls outside covered with roses and blossoms from a fruit tree. A spring water. The old big tree in the garden with
hanging lanterns, and the tables with chairs and benches around. This is Le Poggiola, my place where I am a free spirit, where I am coming
back, again and again, where I have got friends for life. Lisa and her family share their home to me and others, who also are returning to this
wonderful place. Imagine: Magic afternoons under the old tree, having long good philosophic conversations together with marvellous home made
dinners with Poggiola's fine wines, after a long day visiting Firenze's galleries, churches and markets, tired of the noise and street walking,
or after a hot day at the beaches: At Le Poggiola there is relaxation, and The Good Life. And now there is also a swimming pool with a
fantastic view all over the valley and landscape beneath. Dear Lisa and everyone (including cats and hens!) at Le Poggiola: Thank you for
everything you have given to my life! I will return as often as possible!

Good location for families with children. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated. There were plenty of cooking utensils. There are steep stone stairs throughout the buildings, which might be a problem for very young children.

Fabulous weekend in the country! Wonderful hosts! Wonderful food! Wonderful estate! Wonderful weekend. GREAT Wine!! It was somewhat difficult to get to considering we did not have a car and we were limited to public transportation to get to the farm house.
